THE DIGEST

CULTURE

🤗 Carmarthenshire Embraces "Capital of Cosy" Title

Carmarthenshire is wrapping visitors in a warm Welsh welcome as it positions itself as the "capital of cosy" through its new "cwtch" guide. The initiative showcases the county's most comforting experiences for those seeking a snug winter retreat.

Highlights of the guide include visits to the National Museum of Wool, where guests can explore Wales' rich textile heritage, alongside hands-on weaving workshops where visitors can try their hand at traditional Welsh crafts.

The guide also celebrates Carmarthenshire's flourishing food scene, featuring local eateries serving hearty Welsh comfort food made with locally-sourced ingredients.

"Cwtch" - the beloved Welsh word meaning a warm, affectionate hug or safe place - perfectly captures the essence of what Carmarthenshire offers winter travelers looking for a cosy getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

This strategic positioning aims to boost tourism during the traditionally quieter winter months by appealing to those seeking authentic, heartwarming experiences in one of Wales' most charming counties.

🌙 The moon is showing off - Total Lunar eclipse

(Image: JUNG YEON-JE, AFP via Getty Images)

A total eclipse will flash the moon red on Thursday night into Friday morning across the Western Hemisphere.

The best views will be from North America and South America. Parts of Africa and Carmarthenshire can catch a glimpse of it if the skies are clear from 7.30pm onwards.

Lunar eclipses happen when the Earth, moon, and sun align perfectly so that Earth casts a shadow that can partially or totally blot out the moon. This celestial event can be easily visible without any special equipment as long as the night sky is dark enough, enhancing visibility around the moon. For Carmarthenshire viewers, keep an eye on local weather forecasts to ensure clear viewing conditions, and find a spot away from light pollution for the best experience. This rare astronomical treat offers a chance for stargazers in Wales to witness one of nature's most dramatic sky shows, connecting us to the ancient tradition of moon-watching that has fascinated humans throughout history.
